Where can my alcoholic/crack addict dad get help?

saveit asked:

He is almost 50. Just moved out of gf’s house to stay with friends. Has been separated from family for 10 years. Spent a lot of it off and on in jail serving time for a prior narcotics conviction. Was addicted to crack cocaine when we kicked him out and uses again off and on when not in jail. He lives with friends when not staying with his painkiller addicted trailerpark wife. He has been arrested for assault twice with her so I wish he wouldn’t live with her but I don’t trust his friends not to bring crack around him. I wish I could take him in with me but it’s not an option. He needs a place to live that is affordable to him and keeps him out of trouble. Any ideas?

Well.. the only idea i can offer is to call the intervention shows’ number.. you can look up the number at the A&E website i believe.. they specialize in helping ppl like your father get help and provide him with the best possible care center for his condition..

Support from his FAMILY would be a BIG step in him seeking HELP.

As a recovering addict myself, he will only get help when HE is ready. If he is ready, I attended a place called Grace Home for Women. They also have a facility called Hebron Colony for men. It is solely christian based and is FREE. It is a ten week program. The facility is self sufficient which means you work there to live there. The website is or you can call at 828-963-4842. My stay there changed my life and I will be drug free one year 2/11/07. Good Luck
