My boyfriend is on Effexor XR 75mg, should he have a higher dosage?

He was addicted to crack cocaine for several years, he recentely had a slip up and he wants to go back to the Doctors and get the meds “upped” is this ok? He’s ben on them for 4 months now. At the beggining of taking them he felt full of energy and more happy but now he doesnt feel like that anymore. He thinks his body is getting immuned to it. Should he get a higher dosage of anti depressents now? And how will this affect him when he wants to get off them…Will he start having bad withdrawls and want crack cocaine again? Please help me!
